The University of SindhÂ
The University of Sindh, the country’s oldest university, was established under the University of Sindh Act No. XVII of 1947, which was passed by Sindh’s Legislative Assembly. After that, in 1961 and afterwards, the Act was updated and modified. The Act of 1972, under which the University is currently operating, gave professors more autonomy and representation. The construction of the current campus in Jamshoro, about 15 kilometres from Hyderabad on the right bank of the Indus River, currently known as the Allama I.I. Kazi Campus, began in the late 1950s. In 1961, the majority of the teaching departments in the Faculty of Science relocated to the new campus, followed by departments in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in 1970.
